This is a part of our 23 day trip from north central Texas to Port Angeles, Washington and back.

The trip starts with our first look at the Hood Canal. We take the ferry to Victoria, British Columbia, visit Butchart Gardens and take in the float planes and boats of the massively busy Victoria harbor.

While visiting the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks we get to see the locks in action and ships of all shapes and sizes. It's fascinating.

One of our most memorable days of the trip comes when we go to Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Park. The variety of animals we see is amazing. During our trip we see several mountain goat families, Olympic marmot, blue grouse and black-tailed deer.

Another day we work our way west around the northern coastline and to our surprise we get to see whales. There are both humpback whales and grey whales that show their fins and blow in the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

We make a very quick trip to the Hoh Rain Forest. It's a temperate rain forest and the trees and undergrowth are breathtaking. The end of the day takes us to La Push to witness a beautiful sunset over the Pacific Ocean.

During the last day on the Olympic Peninsula we visit the beach and the Point Wilson Lighthouse of Fort Worden State Park. It's a pleasant time to enjoy the sounds of the ocean and watch the ships and sailboats.

The next stop is Willows Campground in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest of Washington.
